Getting the Users

Yesterday I launched AngusForm, and after that I set up some Google Search advertisements. Unfortunately AngusForms.com does not comply with some of their rules. Apparently websites that provide government related services cannot advertise with Google unless they’re approved by the government. This leaves me with two options:

  1. Get approval from the Government
  2. Get users some other way

Yeah right.

Get users some other way

There are lots of other ways to get users to try my app.

  1. Directly message my friends to try it
  2. Buy Facebook Ads
  3. Buy Reddit Ads, on Hong Kong subreddits
  4. Create a non-government form and run Google Ads for that form.

I’ll try the first three approaches, and maybe do the fourth if I feel like I have an abundance of time.

Certificate of No Criminal Conviction

At the moment AngusForm.com lets you fill out two forms for the Hong Kong Transport Department. I’m half-way through creating a Hong Kong Police Form that lets people apply for a “Certificate of No Criminal Conviction”. A friend of mine needs the certificate for some job he’s applying for.

So far I’ve created the HTML all the forms on AngusForm by hand. It doesn’t seem like a good way to go. I’m going to try out JsonForms to see if it makes my life easier.

Eat Dog Food

A few weeks ago I met someone who works for a dog food company, and she told me she actually eats the dog food to test it out. I was inspired by this, and will also eat dog food by filling out and delivering Form FormTD63A myself.

Next Week’s Goals

  1. Pressure friends to fill out a form
  2. Buy Facebook Ads
  3. Buy Reddit Ads
  4. Finish the Certificate of No Criminal Conviction Form
  5. Try out JsonForm
  6. Eat Dog Food

That is quite a lot of goals. See you next week.
